Posting Summary

The Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University seeks an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice with a primary emphasis on education leadership. This position presents an opportunity to grow our dynamic new leadership preparation program and mentor the next generation of school and district-level leaders. The Professor of Professional Practice role focuses primarily on teaching and program coordination, with opportunities to create and contribute new visions.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant school of 60 faculty members working across a range of education fields. Located on the New Brunswick campus, this is a term appointment, academic year, nine-month position with the opportunity for summer employment, dependent on the availability of funds. The position is eligible for a partial-remote work arrangement. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2025, and continue until the position is filled.

The position has a negotiable start date, depending on the availability of the selected candidate.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

1. Current or past PK-12 administrative licensure

2. Five years of experience as a school- or district-level administrator in PK-12 education

3. Experience teaching adults and providing professional development

4. Demonstrated commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusive leadership practices

5. Experience and facility using technology

6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preferred Qualifications

1. Earned EdD or PhD with emphasis in school leadership or a closely related discipline

2. Ability to lead and organize programs to promote effective student progress

3. Effective teaching at the college/university level

4.

Experience with teaching via online instruction and distance education delivery
