SALARY: A five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94

LOCATION:

Lynnwood Washington

DESCRIPTION:

We invite dynamic and passionate educators to join our associate faculty pool of Spanish Instructors. This flexible, part-time opportunity is ideal for those who are dedicated to student success, equity, and the transformative power of language education.

You will teach first-year transfer Spanish courses and grammar classes in both online and hybrid formats. As a valued member of our School of Humanities and Social Sciences, you will report to the Dean of HSS and play an integral role in shaping the academic journey of a diverse student body.

We accept applications for part-time faculty positions on an ongoing basis. Typical requirements for part-time faculty are listed below. To be included in the part-time pool, please follow the application procedure below.

Key Responsibilities:

* Teach assigned Spanish courses to a diverse student population using in-person, online, and hybrid modalities.

* Develop engaging curriculum and innovative teaching materials.

* Assess student learning outcomes, provide timely feedback, and assign grades.

* Advise and mentor students, supporting their academic and personal growth.

* Collaborate with colleagues to foster an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment.

* Maintain accurate records and participate in ongoing professional development

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Master
¿ s degree in Spanish language or closely related field.

* Recent experience teaching Spanish at the college level or with students of varying proficiency.

* Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Hispanic cultures.

* Ability to teach and communicate effectively in Spanish, including strong oral and aural skills.

* Proficiency in English and Spanish grammar.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience working with students and staff from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

* Commitment to anti-racist and decolonizing pedagogies.

* Familiarity with online course management systems (e.g., Canvas).

* Ability to inspire enthusiasm and engagement in the classroom.

* Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to a variety of learning needs and environments.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom, office, or online from home and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to communicate effectively is essential. Instructors are required to use a computer in the work environment. The ability to navigate difficult terrain in field settings is required.

COMPENSATION:

The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step

A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

* You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

* Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant
¿ s suitability and competence to perform in the position.

* For education and degrees completed outside of the United States, an independent evaluation approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is needed before the hiring process will be completed.

* All new positions are contingent upon funding.
