JSU Online at Jackson State University is now accepting applications for the position of JSU Online Student Success and Engagement Coordinator. The Student Engagement & Success Coordinator is dedicated to enhancing online student satisfaction, fostering a sense of community, and driving retention. This individual will oversee online student orientation, the management of honor societies, facilitate the formation of student clubs, and manage social media platforms to engage students.

Additionally, the coordinator will connect students to vital resources, host virtual trainings, support recruiting efforts, and develop programming that keeps students informed and actively involved. Serving as the primary point of contact for student engagement and success beyond the classroom, this role is essential in creating an enriching and supportive online experience for all students.

Examples of Duties

* Serve as a first point of contact for student concerns related to engagement, satisfaction, and success.

* Create dashboards, and manage Dropout Detective, and reach out to students who may be at risk.

* Proactively check in with students and coordinate retention efforts. Create dashboards, and manage Dropout Detective, and reach out to students who may be at risk.

* Connect students with academic, technical, financial, and wellness resources.

* Manage honor societies (e.g., Omega Nu Lambda) and coordinate virtual induction ceremonies.

* Initiate and advise student clubs or peer groups relevant to online learners.

* Plan and execute student-centered virtual events like orientation sessions, town halls, or motivational workshops.

* Develop and deliver short student trainings on topics like time management, navigating Canvas, and using university systems.

* Regularly update and maintain communication channels (email newsletters, announcements, etc.) to keep students informed.

* Manage the department's student-facing social media accounts and create content and campaigns highlighting student success, events, tips, deadlines, etc.

* Tech JSU Online University Success courses.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Education, Communication, Student Affairs, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

* 2-5 years of experience student engagement, success programming, or a similar role, preferably in an online or higher education setting.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

* Knowledge of online learning platforms, such as Canvas, and digital communication tools.

* Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute virtual events, programs, and initiatives.

* Experience managing social media platforms, including creating content and digital campaigns.

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet goals and deadlines.

* A passion for student success, retention, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

* Ability to analyze student feedback and data to inform program improvements and drive engagement efforts.
