Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Coordinator of the UNLV Writing Center, which is a full-time, 12-month administrative faculty position. This is an on-campus position with the possibility of some remote work during winter break and summer term.
ROLE of the POSITION
UNLV Writing Center invites applicants to serve as Writing Center Coordinator. The position will start June 1, 2026.
The Writing Center Coordinator assists the Director and Assistant Director by implementing, maintaining, supervising, and reporting on the day-to-day operations and systems of the Writing Center. The Coordinator is tasked with training, mentoring, and overseeing consultants, and is the dedicated supervisor for those working in online spaces. They also support the supervision and delegation of tasks to Lead Consultants.
The Coordinator helps to develop, maintain, and deliver outward-facing writing-related workshops and resources, present and archive internal training resources, create and update operations manuals and staff handbooks, and set up and maintain online systems. The Coordinator assists the Director and Assistant Director with reporting and all other relevant Writing Center work as it arises.
The Coordinator might occasionally consult with writers, primarily in remote consultations and/or with higher level writers, such as graduate students, faculty and staff, and is expected to participate in regional, national, and international writing center studies-related professional development activities that enhances their growth in this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in writing center studies, rhetoric and composition, languages/TESOL, or a related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 4 years of experience working in writing centers, and 2 years of experience administering writing centers.
Applicants with a Master's degree in writing center studies, rhetoric and composition, languages/TESOL, or a related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) must have 2 years of experience working in writing centers, and 1 year of experience administering writing centers.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
The position requires excellent communication, problem solving, and computer technology skills, including instructional technology, familiarity with writing center philosophy, and enthusiasm for advocacy and student diversity.
Applicants should also have familiarity with writing center pedagogy; experience training, supervising, and assessing writing center consultants working in-person and online, both synchronously and asynchronously; and experience consulting in a higher education institution's writing center, in particular supporting diverse student populations from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Applicants may have awareness of UNLV Writing Center policies, procedures, and practices as well as proficiency with UNLV's CRM and LMS platforms.
