Brief Job Overview/Summary
Under the supervision of the Health Educator, the Wellness Peer Educator will support the Stockton University Wellness Center in promoting student health, wellness, and overall well-being. This position involves assisting with outreach programs, workshops, and events focused on topics such as stress management, mental health awareness, substance use prevention, nutrition, and healthy relationships. Peer Educators serve as role models and resources for fellow students, helping to create a positive and supportive campus environment.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The Wellness Peer Educator will be responsible for:
* Assisting Health Educator with Health and Wellness Center workshops and events that may include evening and weekend hours
* Developing, promoting and presenting workshops relevant to current health issues within the campus community
* Attending weekly mandatory staff and planning meetings, one-on-one scheduled meetings, training, peer educator office hours, programming and events
* Working in collaboration with other Wellness Center staff and community vendors at events
* Working with other students who have already been trained as peer educators or those that desire to become peer educators
* Educating students about Wellness Center services and providing referrals where needed
* Working an average of 5 hours per week or more budget permitting, providing on campus education in the form of workshops, and programming as the primary facilitator, co-facilitator or helping Wellness Center staff
* Maintaining cleanliness of the peer educator working area, peer educator storage and supplies closet including the set-up and break-down from events
* Checking and responding to email and text messages sent by supervisor promptly
* Completing bi-weekly progress reports and timesheets documenting time spent along with a description of how time was spent

* Maintain correct hours and descriptions for time spent in time sheet folder. Only document hours worked or approved by the supervisor. Peer Educators cannot work 6 hours straight without taking a ½ hour break. Inability to manage this information will result in delayed pay, not getting paid and/or may result in termination.
* Completing the online peer education training and exam through NASPA. Upon successful completion of the program, you will become a certified Peer Educator.
* Maintaining a semester grade point average of 2.5 and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 during the active term of this contract. Any peer educator that falls below the 2.5 GPA requirement will be placed on academic and probation and must meet with their supervisor. If either the semester and/or cumulative GPA at the end of the academic probation semester are not at or above a 2.5, the peer educator will be released from their position.
* Having no current or future violations of campus policy are acceptable and peer educators are expected to conduct themselves in ordinance with the University's Code of Conduct which can be found in the Student Handbook on Stockton University's website at:
