Teaching students in person on campus each June and July is an expectation of this position. A key responsibility is leading the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the Registered Education Apprenticeship for Alaskan Leaders (REAAL) through statewide partnerships and in alignment with accreditation requirements.
To thrive in this role, you will design high-quality learning experiences for adult learners across face-to-face, hybrid, and distance formats, using technology effectively to support instruction. You will strengthen curriculum and program outcomes through evidence-informed continuous improvement, and you will build a collaborative learning environment that encourages active engagement.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners. Travel to rural and urban sites across Alaska is required for candidate supervision and program-related work. Participation in University and community service, including committee work, is expected.
Qualifications include experience as a building-level principal and district-level leader, experience designing and delivering professional learning, and familiarity with academic program design. Knowledge of CAEP accreditation and NELP standards is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach and work effectively with Indigenous peoples and individuals from a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or a closely related field is preferred; however, applicants who hold a master's in an area that is relevant for the position will be considered.
Must hold a school administrator's license in a U.S. state and be able to obtain an Alaska Type B certificate.
At least three (3) years of experience as a school-based educational leader.
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in a certified position within public education systems.
