Denver Botanic Gardens is currently seeking an On Call Adult Education Program Assistant in our Education Department! Read below to see if the requirements might be a good fit for you.
This position facilitates and supports educational experiences and programming that emphasize the plant‑people connection through content including home gardening, biodiversity, botanical art and illustration, conservation and environmental sciences. This position assists with courses or programs, online and in‑person, as well as in advance, facilitating high quality public programs for adult audiences, including formal, informal, online and in‑person programs.
General Duties and Responsibilities- Implements assigned programs, troubleshooting and problem‑solving as an on‑site contact, sites include our York Street location, Chatfield Farms, and Plains Conservation Center.
- Greets students and creates a welcoming environment and positive class experience.
- Sets up, takes down and arranges equipment, signs and other materials before and after classes and other programs.
- Follows best practices to successfully run and manage audiovisual software and hardware in classrooms and online.
- Troubleshoots technical issues, interacting with IT staff as needed.
- Assists in hosting, monitoring, and recording online class content.
- Communicates consistently with the team to ensure quick responses to current developments and efficient development of programs.
- Communicates with instructors, volunteers, staff and the public about class programs.
- Keeps accurate records of attendance, programs, confirmations, or other matters as needed.
- Supports and leads volunteers as part of the Education team, including regular information‑sharing and communication.
- Follows departmental guidelines and policies, alerting management and program staff to relevant challenges or ambiguities.
- Organizes, implements or completes assigned projects, meeting assigned deadlines and alerting coworkers to any disruptions or challenges discovered.
- Learns and maintains a general understanding of Adult Education classes, including School of Botanical Art and Illustration, serving as a program representative during class.
- Assists Education Staff in identifying, arranging and delivering high quality programs.
- Works to assure the highest quality experience for all Denver Botanic Gardens visitors.
- Maintains satisfactory working relationships with managers, co‑workers, and others.
- Maintains a positive, helpful, and solution‑oriented demeanor when responding to or serving members and visitors.
- Regular attendance at the worksite may be required. As with all positions at Denver Botanic Gardens, the incumbent must be in good performance standing to be eligible for remote work. Remote work is at the discretion of management at all times.
