The Internship Coordinator provides essential support in the business operations of the Humanities in Action:
Maverick Internship Program, a cross-college initiative designed to expand access to paid, credit-bearing internship opportunities for humanities students. Reporting to the Principal Investigator/Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Internship Coordinator works closely with faculty, internal partners, and community organizations to develop internship placements, support students and faculty, coordinate programming and events, and assess program effectiveness. This position plays a critical role in embedding humanities internships into the university's academic and community engagement infrastructure.
Job Duties
Responsibility Area:
Program Coordination and Administration Duties:
* Develop, expand, and maintain a diverse portfolio of paid internship placements for humanities students across nonprofit, civic, public-sector, and emerging business partners.
* Identify potential new internship employers, solicit their involvement.
* Utilize UNO systems and technology to post, promote, and track internship job postings.
* Coordinate student hiring and placement processes in collaboration with faculty leads.
* Prepare relevant employment paperwork for interns.
* Serve as a central point of contact for students, faculty leads, and internship site supervisors throughout the internship lifecycle.
* Develop internship informational handouts.
* Evaluate program and implement improvements.

Partnerships and Events Duties:
* Build and sustain relationships with campus partners (e.g., Humanities Departments/Programs, Career Services, Office of Engagement, Center for Faculty Excellence) and external organizations such as nonprofit associations and business development centers.
* Secure new community partners to become internship sites; maintain those relationships.
* Attend and participate in community meetings for the purpose of networking and developing internship relationships.
* Provide email and/or newsletter updates to internship employers.
* Conduct site visits to current and potential internships sites.
* Plan and coordinate program events, such as the Humanities Internship Symposium and end-of-semester showcases.
* Represent the program on relevant university committees related to internships and experiential learning.

Faculty and Curriculum Support Duties:
* Partner with faculty leads to align internship placements with common curricular elements.
* Coordinate meeting or events for faculty training and professional development related to internship supervision, applied learning, and assessment.
* Support the Humanities in Action Community of Practice, facilitating meeting scheduling and record keeping.

* Assist in the design and delivery of programming to increase student awareness of and successful participation in internships.
* Develop, collect, and analyze workshop evaluations from attendees.
* Answer questions and help students find resource materials.
* Facilitate continued engagement of former interns as mentors, speakers, and peer resources.
