Job Summary
This position is open to Alaska residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify. This is a purpose‑driven role that allows you to interact with State employees across Alaska, traveling up to a week at a time to educate communities on State policies and supervisory practices. You will work from a hybrid environment with the flexibility to work from home some days while collaborating in the office on others.
WhatYou Will Be Doing
- Deliver professional training courses and workshops to State employees using instructional techniques in both in‑person and virtual environments. Courses include the Supervisory Academy, Workplace Civility Training, and other HR‑related offerings.
- Partner with statewide departments to scope, design, and deliver customized training such as team‑specific sessions, values development, team‑building workshops, and leadership seminars.
- Create engaging SCORM‑based learning content that is immersive and interactive, using tools such as Articulate Rise and Storyline.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the state Learning Management System (LMS) – creating training content, developing an administrator manual, running reports, and analyzing learning data.
The Learning & Development Program, housed within the Division of Personnel, is a close‑knit team that collaborates to deliver supervisory, leadership, and performance management training to State of Alaska employees. The team partners statewide on initiatives such as team development, values setting, and organizational effectiveness.

The team works in a hybrid environment balancing flexibility with connection. Telework days are coordinated via Microsoft Teams, while in‑person days bring the team together in the Atwood Building downtown Anchorage. Dining, wellness, and recreation options are nearby. This position requires frequent travel within Alaska, normally up to one week at a time, with occasional longer trips.

Minimum Qualifications
- Communications and Media – proficiency in written, oral, and visual communication.
- Education and Training – experience teaching, training, and instructional design.
- Employee Development – knowledge of planning, evaluating, and administering training and development initiatives.
- Interpersonal Skills – ability to build effective relationships and respect diversity.
