The Financial Aid Student Services Specialist Sr. plays a key role in supporting students and staff in the Financial Aid Office by performing complex task, including awarding and disbursing federal student aid and ensuring compliance with federal and institutional regulations. Responsible for providing guidance and counseling to students, assisting with the financial aid application process, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
The role also includes coordinating office workflows, providing training to staff members, and participating in outreach activities to enhance student understanding of financial aid options and requirements. Works closely with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Essential Functions
25% - Performs more technically complex and difficult Title IV and non-Title IV processing, researches complex financial aid problems to provide guidance and assistance to staff members as needed. Researches, analyzes and, interprets federal and state regulations to ensure organizational compliance and to respond to inquiries.
20% - Provides oversight to all financial aid processes including Student Information System (SIS) reports, verification issues, determination of need, awarding and award adjustments, as well as assists with maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting SIS.
15% - Provides specific program administration and oversight (i.e. Pell, Direct Loan, Federal Work Study, Scholarships, etc.) to include, but is not limited to reconciliation.
10% - Responds to more complex escalated student/parent inquiries in-person and via telephone.
