Reading Specialist, Prequel; Remote

In most weeks, you'll facilitate high-leverage intervention sessions. In others, you'll conduct brief motivational touchpoints that keep learners aligned and reaching milestones. This position fits individuals who value independence, rapid feedback cycles, and visible results. It won't suit anyone seeking a rigid template or who avoids working with metrics.

• Plan and facilitate virtual small-group and individual reading intervention sessions for learners in grades 3–8
• Apply reading assessment data to pinpoint fluency and comprehension deficits and modify instruction rapidly
• Adapt activities across varied reading levels, including accommodations for dyslexia and associated reading challenges
• Monitor progress in a transparent, systematic manner and leverage the data to guide upcoming sessions
• Conduct structured motivational touchpoints that cultivate confidence, determination, and pride in advancement

• Instruct large, full-class lessons or deliver lectures from a rigid curriculum
• Execute a pre-written program without responding to learner needs and live feedback
  
  Serve as a passive "software supervisor" without substantive teaching and rapport
• Depend on superficial incentives that fail to cultivate enduring motivation

Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—by providing personalized virtual interventions and motivational support that fosters confidence.

• Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
• Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
• Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
• At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
• Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
• Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
• Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
• Full-time availability during U.S. business hours (Monday–Friday; 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. PT)

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $30 USD/hour, which equates to $60,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
