Mentor Struggling Youth - ONLINE

Overview

The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource.

The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.

• Be a consistent, caring mentor who spends time with the mentee to support development and resilience.
• Focus on goal setting, homework help, and career exploration. While there may be a focus on homework help, sessions are more than tutoring and build a personal relationship that supports social engagement and a network of support.
• Engage through Be A Mentor’s Virtual Mentoring Platform; ensure regular contact (at least one hour per week).

• Mentors must be located within the United States.
• Interest in helping a youth reach their full potential and guiding them toward big goals.
• Background check requirements apply; currently unable to accept individuals outside the United States.

Virtual mentoring removes barriers of distance, requires no commute time, and offers a flexible schedule.
