Position: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE

ONLINE ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE‑SOCIAL WORK, 9‑MO APPT. Position

Description:

The Social Work Program in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Assistant Professor of Practice to teach in the Online MSW degree program option beginning September 1, 2026. Faculty in non‑tenure acquiring appointments are expected to teach four courses each long semester, as assigned and according to program needs, as well as to engage in significant service activities with the university, community, and/or profession.

These positions do not require residency in Lubbock, candidates anywhere in the United States will be considered. Applicants must have a strong identification with the mission and core values of Social Work and experience teaching with web‑based modalities. Top candidates will have also had experience developing online curriculum consistent with CSWE’s educational standards.

the Social Work Program

The Social Work Program is housed in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work. Accreditation with CSWE was initially granted in 1979 for the BA in social work degree. The Master of Social Work (MSW) program, offering an advanced generalist approach with a focus on health and well‑being, was established in 2015 and is fully accredited through 2031. Today, twelve full‑time faculty lines and two full‑time staff positions are dedicated to the preparation of BASW and MSW level students.
