Overview

The 21st Century Cyber Charter School has a vacancy for a Special Education Teacher for the School Year

Location

The incumbent can work from home, but must report to one of our school campus locations—West Chester (Eastern PA) or Murrysville (Western PA)—based on permanent address. Certain dates in the school year require on-site presence and may involve overnight accommodation.

  • West Chester campus: an active university town located in the Brandywine Valley within 30 minutes of Wilmington and 45 minutes of Center City Philadelphia.
  • Murrysville campus: a short drive from Pittsburgh, offering adventure, food scene, family activities, and more.
Summary of Position

All teachers support the school mission and vision, plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons that meet state-mandated standards via an online synchronous/asynchronous environment. Each teacher also serves as an Academic Advisor for an assigned caseload of students, communicates regularly with students and parents, and participates in proctoring state-mandated testing, field trips, community outreach, and marketing events. Flexibility to meet asynchronous teaching demands and occasional travel requirements is essential.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute developmentally appropriate lessons in assigned content area(s) through the learning management system; differentiate instruction for all students; implement IEP accommodations and modifications.
  • Maintain all assigned courses to high standards, adjusting lessons and assessments as necessary.
  • Gather resources that address state standards and incorporate them into lessons, instructional materials, and assessments.
  • Schedule and maintain regular virtual office hours.
  • Monitor student attendance expectations.
  • Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions (Progress Monitoring, PVAAS, Keystone, PSSA, etc.).
  • Provide timely feedback to students to support mastery goals.
  • Serve as Academic Advisor to assigned caseload, following established procedures.
  • Proctor state‑mandated testing, participate in field trips, community outreach, and marketing events.
  • Collaborate with department and cohort peers to ensure academic goals are met and instructional strategies are effective.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Student Information System, following procedures.
  • Manage a caseload of special education students and implement their IEPs.
  • Adapt classroom work to provide instructional materials addressing individualized learning plans within lesson plans.
  • Assess student progress toward objectives, expectations, or goals; provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Communicate accommodations, modifications, grading guidelines, and behavioral plans to all involved.
  • Ensure all timelines are met.
  • Facilitate IEP and initiate reevaluation meetings.
  • Monitor IEP implementation.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data meaningfully.
  • Ensure IEPs are developmentally appropriate, standards‑based, and relevant.
  • Facilitate workshops/meetings for parents and identify resources for parents of students with special needs.
  • Connect with students’ outside providers, pediatricians, and therapists as appropriate.
  • Perform any other duties or projects assigned by the Director of Special Education.
