The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking a full-time Philosophy Instructor to deliver engaging, student-centered instruction while contributing to curriculum development, institutional service, and a mission-driven academic community.

Purpose:
Develop and maintain student-centered pedagogy designed for CWI’s diverse community college population - Continuously improve curriculum, content delivery, assessment methods, and student responsiveness
- Establish and maintain a strong record of instructional excellence
- Assist with course-level curriculum development and revisions
- Institutional Engagement &
Collaboration:
Build professional relationships to understand college systems, resources, and culture - Participate in service activities supporting both student and faculty success
- Engage in department- and program-level initiatives, planning, and assessment
- Support institutional goals through committee work and community involvement
- Professional Development & Growth:
Collaborate with supervisors to align professional skills and interests with student achievement - Commit to continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and disciplinary expertise
- Master’s degree in Philosophy or Master’s in a related field with at least 12 graduate semester hours in Philosophy (Ph.D. preferred)
- 3+ years of post-secondary teaching experience in Philosophy
- Strong communication skills, collegiality, and ability to work cooperatively
- Ability to adapt instruction across lectures, group work, individual instruction, online formats, and technology-enhanced learning
- Proficiency with standard technology tools (internet, email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations)
- Commitment to professional development and community college teaching
- Experience with instructional technology and online delivery preferred
- Availability to teach in hybrid and in-person modalities

Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
