Position Title:
Youth and Community Engagement Coordinator (Part-Time)
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Part-Time (approximately 20 hours per week with growth potential - some remote work possible)
Position SummaryThe Youth and Community Engagement Coordinator is a new part-time position dedicated to strengthening connections between the performing arts at COH and the children, families, and educational communities of the greater Traverse area. This role will build and sustain partnerships with local schools, school districts, community organizations, and family-focused groups to expand access to arts experiences, foster arts education, and cultivate the next generation of audiences and participants.
The ideal candidate is community-minded, highly organized, and passionate about the arts as a tool for education, enrichment, and connection.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, school districts, and educators to support arts education initiatives, student matinees, workshops, and in-school or on-site programming.
- Collaborate with community partners, including youth-serving organizations, libraries, and family and senior resource centers to expand outreach and participation.
- Design and coordinate programs that engage children and young families with the performing arts, including performances, educational events, and interactive experiences.
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and educators, families, and community partners, ensuring clear communication and strong collaboration.
- Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of youth- and family-focused events and initiatives.
- Track participation, partnerships, and outcomes, and assist with reporting for internal use and for funders or sponsors as needed.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, school events, and outreach opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with staff, artists, volunteers, and partners to ensure programs align with the organization’s mission and values.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of community and youth engagement goals.
- Experience working with schools, youth programs, community organizations, or arts education initiatives.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Passion for the performing arts and a belief in their value for children and families.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Comfortable working evenings or weekends occasionally, as required by events.
- Proficiency with G suite, mail, sheets, calendar, drive etc.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
This is a part-time, hourly position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
