Job SummaryOwensboro Community and Technical College has openings for part-time Biology Adjunct Instructors to teach all levels of biology online. Assignment(s) will begin in the summer or fall semester. Common courses in which we are in need:
- • BIO 112:
Intro to Biology (Lecture) 3 hours - • BIO 113:
Intro to Biology (Lab) 2 hours
- Plans and carries our instruction, instructional activities, and prepares learning materials for in-person or online courses.
- Provides instruction to students in the subject area.
- Prepares lesson plans (as needed) and maintains records and reports on student attainment, attendance, retention activities and progress.
- Utilizes approved online course template and syllabus format, maintains classroom order and discipline.
- Provides timely feedback to students.
- Completes required trainings as necessary.
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline (Biology) or closely related subject matter.
- Previous experience teaching online, in-person, or hybrid courses is preferred.
- Experience using Blackboard (or a similar learning management system as a delivery method for classes) is recommended.
- Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing oneself professionally and courteously.
- Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
- Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
