Overview

The Office of Admissions is hiring an Admissions Counselor focused on serving prospective students from rural Alaska and their families. This position will build collaborative relationships with UAF’s branch campuses in rural Alaska, routinely travel to rural communities to recruit students, and perform the full range of duties assigned to all Admissions Counselors.

Key Responsibilities

Meeting with students from any recruitment territory, responding to phone calls and emails directed to the department, assisting with recruitment events, and working closely with student ambassadors.

Maintaining collaborative relationships with branch campuses, routinely traveling to rural communities to recruit students, and performing the full range of duties assigned to all Admissions Counselors.

Representing UAF to prospective students and their families, presenting UAF in a positive, engaging way.

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A valid Alaska Driver's License and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
  • Strong organizational skills, public speaking ability, leadership experience, decision‑making skills, event coordination experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, juggle multiple priorities, bring creative ideas.
  • Strong cross‑cultural communication skills, student‑centered ethic, willingness to travel.
Position Details

This is a full‑time, exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.

Work Location
