Head Women's Swim Coach

University of Alaska Fairbanks

The Head Women's Swim Coach serves as the leader of the women's swimming program within the University of Alaska Fairbanks and its Department of Athletics. This position provides strategic direction, coaching leadership, and administrative oversight to support competitive success, academic achievement, and the overall development of student-athletes. As part of a collaborative and student-centered athletics department, the role contributes to advancing institutional pride, community engagement, and a culture of excellence both in the pool and across campus.

To thrive in this role, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organization, and communication skills while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture. The individual must be able to effectively balance coaching excellence with administrative responsibilities, recruiting strategy, and student‑athlete academic support. Success requires the ability to mentor and supervise staff, build meaningful relationships with student‑athletes, alumni, and community partners, and maintain strict compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies.

A proactive, collaborative mindset and a commitment to student‑athlete development, competitive success, and community engagement are essential to advancing the mission of the athletics department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • BA or BS in an appropriate subject.
Position Details
  • Full‑time, term‑funded, exempt staff position with competitive salary and benefits.
  • Compensation includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • New hires placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
  • A valid Alaska Driver's License and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.

Applicant review will begin on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Work Location

Employees are required to work on‑site at UA facilities. Hybrid and remote work may be approved for employees based in Alaska at UA's discretion. Remote work for employees based outside Alaska may be approved only in exceptional circumstances or when required by the position's job duties.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Applicants who now or may in the future require visa sponsorship to work in the United States are not eligible.

Employment Terms

This term‑funded position is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
