River Arts seeks a Camp Director for our Summer Arts day camp season! Are you passionate about sharing the arts with future generations? Then we’d love to hear from you.

Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Summer Arts Camp Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a three-week, multi-disciplinary summer camp program. This is an exciting position that helps to successfully serve 120 students a year through our prized day camp, Summer Arts, which provides hands‑on, artist‑led learning in a variety of media and disciplines to children grades 3-9.

This contract position assists with hiring faculty and counselors, student schedules, and leads the orientation and setup of daily programs during the camp season.

General Responsibilities Team Recruitment
  • Oversee the recruitment and hiring of a diverse faculty of artists trained across a variety of media
  • Work with Executive Director and faculty to assess programmatic offerings through teacher‑devise curriculum
  • Hire a team of youth counselors to assist with program setup and support teachers
  • Manage Zoom trainings
Administrative
  • Work with faculty to order and store supplies (River Arts maintains an off‑site storage unit)
  • Communicate to parents and families via email during open enrollment to encourage registration, prior to the start of camp sessions, and to all general inquiries
  • Oversee class operations and take photos
Finance
  • With bookkeeper, oversee staff wages and payments
  • With bookkeeper, confirm families have paid in full prior to attending weekly sessions
  • Submit receipts to bookkeeper for facility, instructor, and equipment payments as assigned
  • With the Education & Operations Coordinator, review scholarship applications and assign award amounts to qualified families
  • With the Education & Operations Coordinator, track enrollment
  • Track daily attendance of teachers and students
Setup & Cleanup
  • Manage program inventories; deliver to/from storage unit to camp location
  • Manage counselors and teachers in setting up and cleaning up on time for each day and week’s sessions
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in arts, music, or education administration
  • Strong attention to detail;
    Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Sharepoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge and/or ability to learn database programs (River Arts uses Little Green Light)
  • Ability to work remotely 10 hours per month March-July and full-time, onsite during the camp weeks (Aug 3-21) and on select weekends (Aug 1 and Aug 22) to setup and cleanup camp classrooms
  • Familiarity with lower Westchester County events and programs
  • Professional and responsible demeanor
  • Clear and effective writer and communicator (without the use of AI technology)
  • Current NYS driver’s license and clean driving record
  • This is a contracted, 6‑month position set to begin in March and conclude in September
  • Compensation begins at $7,500 (calculated as $40/hr at 187 hours) with bonus incentives
  • River Arts currently offers a hybrid working environment; staff currently primarily work from home but must be able to report onsite for programs and meetings as directed. River Arts reserves the right to change remote work policies at any time.
