Resident Advisor (RA) – Fall/Spring
UAS Residence Life is hiring Resident Advisors to support UAS Housing student residents and the guest housing program. Become a member of a community dedicated to academic achievement, learning, and personal growth. RAs serve as role models and mentors by educating residents on the Student Code of Conduct and UAS Housing policies, connecting them to on‑campus resources, providing support in emergency situations, and fostering student engagement opportunities.
ResponsibilitiesYour role will include: coordinating community events, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, acting as a first‑line problem solver, and providing timely communication with residents and staff. You will attend one staff meeting and one supervisory meeting each week, preserve visibility in assigned residential communities, and participate in on‑duty rotation (at least one night per week and weekend shifts on a rotating basis).
Minimum Qualifications- Have applied for housing through the Department of Residence Life.
- Graduate teaching assistants are not eligible due to time commitments.
- Commit to one full academic year (or the remainder at hire) and possess at least two semesters of community living experience.
- Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours this semester, or have completed six or more in the preceding semester and plan to enroll for six or more next semester.
- Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, be in good academic standing, or have approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer. RA’s who start below 2.0 will be placed on Academic Probation and have one semester to raise their GPA to 2.0.
- Students in non‑traditional programs may be considered eligible with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
- Provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above.
Lift and carry up to 15 pounds, visually identify individuals from at least 10 feet, and complete 30‑minute campus rounds across various terrains, including stairs.
Training RequirementsComplete all UAS employee required training—including Safety training, Title IX, Protection of Minors, Campus Security Authority, and FERPA—within two weeks of hire.

Starting wage: $14.38/hr.

Equivalent of a JPH shared bedroom buyout per semester for John Pugh Hall (JPH) and a MHC single unit per semester for Main Housing Complex (MHC). - Meal Plan Credit: $750 Meal Plan.
