Schedule

Coaches are required to attend a weekly team meeting at the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center. Coaches meet with individual student coaching clients throughout each week and help with campus workshops, events, and group coaching throughout the academic year as needed. Outside of the weekly team meeting, coaches plan their week based on their schedule and their wellness coaching clients' schedule.

Typically, coaches work 2‑10 hours per week throughout the fall and spring semesters, with occasional opportunities to work during the summer break. Coaches are expected to have some evening and weekend availability throughout the year to support campus workshops, events, and group coaching. Exact work hours vary week to week.

Note:

Coaches are required to attend the on‑campus training week from August 24‑28, 2026 from 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM.

Salary/Wage Range

Minimum: $17.00 per hour

Qualifications
  • Have a desire to learn coaching and communication skills.
  • Be motivated and interested in supporting other students on campus.
  • Be enrolled as a UW‑Madison undergraduate or graduate student, residing on‑campus for the 2026‑2027 school year.
  • Be available and able to attend the on‑campus onboarding week August 24‑28, 2026, 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM.
  • Be available and able to support the Peer Wellness Coaching Team by contributing to individual coaching, group coaching, event support, and workshop requests throughout the academic year.
  • Have some availability in the evenings and on weekends throughout the academic year.

Position Summary /

Job Duties

Peer Wellness Coaches work independently and collaboratively with Professional Wellbeing Staff and the Peer Wellness Coach team to provide wellness coaching on campus with Recreation & Wellbeing at UW‑Madison. Following an in‑depth training, wellness coaches will work directly with individual student coaching clients and complete administrative and logistical tasks to support this work. In addition, wellness coaches will work together to meet wellbeing campus requests that arise throughout the year by facilitating workshops, tabling at events, and providing group coaching.

Position Duties:
