The Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) offers County youth and young adults ages 14 to 24 with enriching and constructive summer work experiences in community organizations, private sector companies, and government agencies.
Opportunities can be:
- In‑Person – Participants will work on‑site.
- Virtual – Participants will work from home or other remote worksite; will need access to a computer or laptop with camera.
- Hybrid – Participants will work on‑site and from home or other remote worksite; will need access to a computer or laptop with camera.
Youth are welcome to apply to one or more of the opportunities below. There are limited positions for each program. The descriptions below indicate the number of available positions, virtual, in‑person or hybrid, pay amount and the number of weeks.
Energy Conservation(Virtual, $300 stipend one‑time payment, 4 weeks) – Through a series of hands‑on explorations, research, and analysis, participants will gain a deeper understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), STEM thinking, energy efficiency and conservation, engineering and sustainability. Activity kits are shipped to the participants' home. Energy Conservation is instructed by the National Energy Educational Development (NEED).
Job Readiness Training – Prince George's Community College(Virtual, $300 stipend one‑time payment, 4 weeks) – This enrichment experience provides participants an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency and readiness for work. The training environment is a safe space where participants can demonstrate their proficiency and readiness for work. The training curriculum supports the development of workplace ethics and skills such as communication, problem‑solving, customer service, and teamwork. Participants may earn a digital badge, which is a virtual validation of the earned credential.
The digital badge allows employers to validate skills, credentials, and achievements.

Onboarding – All HR documentation will be reviewed and verified by the SYEP Team in‑person on specific dates. A detailed communication will be sent to all eligible candidates regarding the dates and times.
