Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support young learners in the Virginia Beach area. This contract position focuses on providing specialized instruction for students with hearing impairments within a supportive school district setting.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to a small caseload of 8 students, ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade, all located at the district center
- Collaborate with school staff and families to develop and implement effective educational plans tailored to each student's needs
- Monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating updates regularly
- Utilize specialized strategies and resources designed to facilitate learning for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Participate in relevant meetings and professional development to stay current with best practices
Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) certification for Deaf and Hard of Hearing teachers is required
- Experience working with early childhood to elementary-aged students (K-5)
- Proven ability to manage a focused caseload with individualized attention
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to commit to contract duration from ASAP until June 16, 2026
- Must be available for a prescreen interview as part of the hiring process

Schedule:
Full-time, 35 hours per week
