Location:
20515 SH 249 (SH 249 and Louetta Road), Houston, Texas 77070.
The teaching faculty is responsible for providing learning activities and support that facilitate student learning and contribute to the educational environment of the college and community. As a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester adjunct, responsibilities include planning, developing, teaching courses, and ensuring student learning outcomes are achieved.
Essential Job Functions- Teach Education 1300 courses at various times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students before or after class, or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with an emphasis on collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.
- Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and a dynamic climate for lifelong learning.
- Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology.
- Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
The work is sedentary. The employee may need to walk, stand, bend, carry light items such as papers, books, or small parts, or drive an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone and general office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
- Work in a climate‑controlled classroom and/or lab with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
- Hours vary by class time; instructors must be available outside of class instruction.
- Master’s degree and completion of required institutional professional development.
$55.44 per contact hour.
