Supervises: May be called upon to supervise students.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Sound Knowledge of Native American Culture
Strong project management skills, networking/collaboration abilities, especially regarding inter‑tribal relations

Job Goal: Addresses the unique educational and cultural academic needs of Native American students. The position will ensure Native American students are given post‑secondary opportunities – entering the workforce, and/or pursuing higher education. The position will also develop, implement, and oversee STEM activities that are academically, socially, and culturally successful through coordinating programs with local Tribes, the PCPS Title VI Indian Education Program, the PCPS Indian Parent Committee, and the PCPS federal programs department.

Terms:

12 Month Contract

Generally – 7:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M., exclusive of a (1) Hour Duty Free Lunch – to accommodate operations office hours and supervision of personnel. This position is grant‑funded and exists within the five‑year project funding period, expiring October 2030.

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Evaluation: Annually by Federal Programs Director

Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach at, below and above shoulder level, repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment; lift/move up to 15 pounds

Occasional Requirements: Walk, reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 25 pounds

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Completes and submits grant application, annual report, and all paperwork required by the grant prior to grant deadlines.
  • Keeps records as needed for compliance with program requirements.
  • Plans and oversees STEM and post‑secondary enrichment activities.
  • Works closely with PCPS Title VI Indian Education Director, Internship Coordinator, and STEM Academy Director.
  • Works closely with tribal Johnson O'Malley Programs, tribal agencies, and appropriate youth support services.
  • Will provide direct support – mentoring, tutoring, and career/college preparation that may include weekly meetings, family and community events, college visits, STEM camps, and other educational support.
  • Monitors NYCP mid‑year and annual progress toward goals.
  • Monitors NYCP Budget and submits all NYCP POs through the Title VI Director.
  • Maintains progress records on all targeted students.
  • Maintains STEM tools, technology, and equipment.
  • Meets with students who are in danger of failing or dropping out of school and refers these students to appropriate agencies for additional support.
  • Attends conferences/workshops/camps with and for Native American students related to STEM/post‑secondary education.
  • Works with school principals, counselors, and teachers to support and facilitate positive teacher‑pupil interaction and teacher‑parent communications.
  • Makes home visits to Native American students’ homes as necessary.
  • Serves as a resource for cultural information and provides cultural instructional resources for teachers and cultural awareness resources for the district’s human resources department regarding STEM and post‑secondary education.
  • Submits regular communication to public information sources for program updates.
  • Publishes monthly NYCP Newsletter for the community and PCPS staff.
  • Complies with all Board of Education policies and procedures.
  • To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
  • Performs all other tasks as the supervisor may assign.

Position Type: Full‑Time

Salary: $52,896 Per Year
