Part‑Time Cosmetic Chemistry Instructor (Remote & In‑Person)

Institution & Location

University of California, Riverside Extension – Hybrid (Webcast & In‑Person) in Riverside, CA

Role Overview

UCR Extension seeks a part‑time instructor to teach adult learners in the Cosmetic Chemistry Program. Courses are 6‑9 weeks long, 3‑4 teaching hours per week, and include online instruction and in‑person labs.

Salary

$875 per unit. Course‑development fee of $100 per unit payable for the first time the course is taught in each modality.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in accordance with the established instructional agreement, curriculum outlines, and class schedule.
  • Communicate teaching objectives, specific learning outcomes, and grading policies to students.
  • Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to keep course information current.
  • Participate in scheduled orientations, meetings, and mandatory training programs by UCR’s deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate academic records within the learning management system and submit timely documentation and grades as outlined in the instructional agreement.
  • Maintain professional conduct standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Cosmetic Chemistry, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of related work experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide instruction in‑person and online.
  • Commitment to diversity and the University’s mission.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching adult learners.
  • Experience with curriculum development and course design.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Ability to teach a wide range of courses.
