Job SummaryThe Assistant Director for Instructional Design, Engagement and Assistance (IDEA) will support development of innovative online courses and programs, provide personalized technical and pedagogical faculty support, manage faculty and student feedback collection and reporting, and supervise the Instructional Technology Coordinator and Specialist. The role focuses on managing online course technologies and faculty development within the Learning Management System, ensuring courses meet institutional expectations for rigor, quality, and scalability.
Responsibilities- Consult with faculty on effective online teaching best practices.
- Provide timely assistance to faculty requests and maintain a log of changes.
- Collect and analyze instructor feedback via the Mojo Helpdesk and report findings to the Director.
- Lead needs assessments and develop faculty development resources and opportunities, including online modules, synchronous sessions, and professional learning communities.
- Maintain reports of faculty engagement and the faculty recognition program.
- Collect and report student and faculty feedback on courses.
- Supervise the Instructional Technology Coordinator and Specialist – approve time off, support coaching on time management, and ensure needed information is accessible to the Director.
- Update personal knowledge and skills in instructional design, data collection, and instructional technology.
- Present or publish scholarship related to educational technology, instructional design, or higher education.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Five or more years of experience supporting faculty and online education in higher education.
- At least one year of experience teaching in higher education.
- Experience in data collection to inform continuous improvement.
- Experience designing asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid, or blended instruction.
- Successful online and/or hybrid teaching experience.
- Experience working with faculty or instructional staff to improve teaching and learning.
- Experience with a learning management system, visual presentation software, online collaboration tools, and web authoring tools.
- Ability to apply learning‑design strategies that support student outcomes.
- Experience developing and facilitating professional development for faculty.
- Direct experience with D2L and Kaltura.
- Knowledge of SACSCOC requirements for online education.
- Experience managing direct reports and collecting faculty and student data.
- Assurance that online courses meet SACSCOC requirements.
- Pay Band: B14
- Minimum Salary: $75,300 annually (commensurate with qualifications)
- Day shift; work outside normal business hours may be required.
