** Reporting to the Director of Operations the Education Director is key to ensuring successful and high-quality early childhood education for all center-based classrooms, our home-based program, and within our family day carehomes.

Responsibilities:

The Education Director ensures full implementation of all aspects of her assigned site policies/procedures and tools, with the goal of supporting all children to achieve School Readiness Goals.

Direct supervision of Site Managers and an Early Learning and Inclusion Specialist, as well as coaching and mentoring of our Teaching Staff.

Effectively facilitate monthly professional learning communities related to curriculum planning and assessment data.

Capably assist education staff in implementing early learning curriculum with fidelity.

Apply expertise in on-going, performance-based assessment system to support the teachers in understanding child outcomes data and using results to plan and individualize instruction.

Track child outcomes and program quality assessment data across classrooms and analyze data and make program development recommendations based on analysis.

Assist education team in planning and implementing comprehensive, differentiated and sequential professional development for education staff.

SUPPORT FOR EDUCATIONAL QUALITY & POSITIVE CHILD OUTCOMESSupports teaching staff in coaching related to educational quality including fidelity of curriculum implementation and meeting Ft. George’s School Readiness Goals Provide monthly coaching and support for quality improvement and professional growth through regular observation and formal and informal feedback.

Provide feedback in all areas of educational quality, including but not limited to CLASS, Learning Environments, Curriculum Assessment, Meeting All Children’s Needs, Working with Families, Professional Growth and Collaboration Provides guidance to support the needs of children with developmental, social emotional and behavioral concerns.

Work with teaching staff to create and maintain quality improvement plans; identify and obtain resources to support them in successfully executing quality improvement.

Supports quality of implementation and use of assessment cycle during assessment work groups

Assist all education staff in understanding child outcomes data and using results to plan and individualize

Track child outcomes and program quality assessment results on a center- and program-wide basis, analyze data and make program development recommendations to Chief Operating Officer Plan and implement comprehensive, differentiated and sequential professional development

Assist in collaboration and coordination within education team and across service areas (Family Services, Mental Health and Health, Nutrition) and initiative

Conduct and lead the interviewing and on-boarding of teaching staff as needed.

COMMUNICATION AND SERVICE COORDINATIONParticipate in team and 1-1 meetings, regularly scheduled and as needed, to ensure coordination of education services across the Head Start program.

Communicate effectively in written or verbal format to groups of all sizes and individuals.

Actively participate in the Head Start community, including staff meetings, mandated trainings, committee meetings, and other program-wide functions as needed, including some evening activities.

RECORD KEEPING AND REPORTING Maintain documentation of monitoring, coaching and training activities, adhering to Ft. George’s existing systems (Master Binders, Shine Insight, etc.) whenever applicable.

Complete monthly reports on area activities and progress toward goals with recommended modifications to plans.

HUMAN RESOURCESMeet with education team at least once per month to monitor, provide ongoing verbal and written feedback consistent with their individual development plans for performance improvement, ensure adherence toHead Start performance standards, and to plan and direct work.

Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and Permanent Certificate , B-2 N-6

Minimum of three years of experience supervising/coaching in an early childhood setting

Obtain and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid Ability to multitask, work independently, efficiently organize and communicate effectively
