Provide students with appropriate face‑to‑face instruction in the assigned academic subject area to foster their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Facilitate the development of competencies and skills necessary for success in society. Additionally, may offer distance or virtual learning options when required to accommodate individual needs and ensure the continuity of instruction.
Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university - Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- Knowledge of subjects assigned and general curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through distance, virtual, or face‑to‑face learning to fulfill district curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles and needs.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use instructional strategies, materials, equipment reflecting student needs.
- Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students per IEP guidelines.
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignment of teacher aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen teaching/learning and provide blended learning opportunities.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement via formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
- Be a positive role model and support the mission of the school district.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during scheduled conference periods or office hours.
- Communicate daily with students and parents via Google Classroom, Google Meet, Office 365 Email, or phone/video.
- Maintain a contact log and conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Provide ongoing feedback of student achievement through formal and informal methods on mastery of lessons per district grading procedures.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Perform all duties safely to avoid injury.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Supervise assigned teacher aides.
- Work prolonged or irregular hours, prolonged sitting, repetitive computer work, frequent use of hands and wrists.
- Work from home or another location unless asked to go to the worksite.
- Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other equipment.
