Position OverviewThe Chair of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program in the Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences reports to the Dean. The Chair is responsible for managing all aspects of the FNP Program, including daily operations, supervision of full- and part‑time faculty, curriculum development, programming, course offerings, program evaluation, and accreditation. The Chair mentors faculty, serves as an interface between faculty and administration, evaluates part‑time faculty annually, and oversees student enrollment, academic progress, and retention.
Remote or hybrid work arrangements are possible.
Key Responsibilities- Provides academic advising and support to up to 30 students (40%):
- Orient new advisees within two weeks before the program start.
- Meet at least monthly to enroll in new courses and monitor progress.
- Share resources for academic success at the beginning of each course.
- Collaborate monthly with the Dean to identify and coach students at risk.
- Respond to advisee emails or calls within 24 hours.
- In collaboration with the DNP Chair, supervise students navigating the certification process (80‑100% success).
- Earn high ratings (above average/exemplary) from students on advising effectiveness.
- Contributes to the overall success of the School of Nursing (30%):
- Serve on committees and contribute to service to the School of Nursing and beyond.
- Collaborate with Associate Deans on assessment and continuous improvement at course, program, and school levels.
- Participate in recruitment events, enrollment, and retention efforts.
- Sustain an 80% retention and graduation rate for the FNP program.
- Participate in school-wide assessment and accreditation efforts.
- Teaches courses in graduate nursing programs (10%):
- Teach 2 courses a year at the MSN/FNP or DNP level and advise graduate students:
- Lecture MSN/FNP and/or DNP courses.
- Earn above average/exemplary evaluations.
- Develop course content aligned with departmental needs and School standards.
- Employ a variety of assessment tools and strategies for all courses taught.
- Supervise FNP students navigating certification process (80‑100% success).
- Teach 2 courses a year at the MSN/FNP or DNP level and advise graduate students:
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates part‑time faculty and advisors (10%):
- Support the Dean in monitoring student progress, orienting new adjuncts, reviewing curriculum, and managing enrollments.
- Collaborate with the Dean to hire, supervise, train, and evaluate part‑time faculty:
- Implement Canvas courses aligned with School standards.
- Review course evaluations and make documented pedagogical adjustments.
- Collaborate to hire, supervise, train, and evaluate part‑time graduate advisors:
- Provide degree audit/work day support.
- Apply best practices in advising.
- Increases Endicott’s reputation in graduate nursing education (10%):
- Demonstrate a track record of scholarship.
- Represent the College through presentations at national/state conferences, seminars, or publications.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Chair of the FNP Program reports to the Dean.
