Overview
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Instructional Technologist. The Instructional Technologist serves as a key partner in developing high-quality online courses. The role ensures courses meet accreditation standards, accessibility guidelines, best practices for online learning, and program-specific requirements. This position is responsible for all phases of course development and maintenance, including building courses in the university-supported Learning Management System (LMS), staying current on educational technologies, assisting with video production and editing, collaborating with faculty to create engaging multimedia elements (including training them on these tools), integrating learning tools into the LMS, and updating courses for each new semester.
The Instructional Technologist equips faculty to maximize online teaching effectiveness by providing hands-on demonstrations of the LMS and offering pedagogical advice.
As a member of the Nevada Online instructional design team, the Instructional Technologist works collaboratively to fully support faculty developing or redeveloping online courses and programs. This position reports to the Associate Director.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain courses in the LMS, ensuring all required elements are included.
- Stay current on educational technologies and their applications.
- Assist with video production and editing.
- Collaborate with faculty to create engaging multimedia elements and train them on these tools.
- Integrate learning tools into the LMS and roll out updates for each new semester.
- Provide hands-on demonstrations of the LMS and pedagogical guidance to maximize online teaching effectiveness.
- Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience; OR a Master’s Degree and one year of related work experience.
