Job DescriptionThe University of Northern Iowa’s School of Public Affairs and Service seeks a temporary Assistant Adjunct Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice to teach the online three‑credit course CRIM 3400 Police & Society during the fall semester beginning August 24, 2026. The position may be performed remotely within the state of Iowa, subject to the university’s remote‑work policy.
ResponsibilitiesTeach the asynchronous online course, covering the history, role, and function of police as a public service focused on reducing crime, protecting society, and achieving justice. Topics include community relationships, analysis of factors influencing police effectiveness, and pressing issues challenging crime control in a democratic society.
Required Qualifications• Master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or related field
• Experience teaching at the university level
• Previous teaching of a similar course in person or online
• Practical experience that demonstrates ability to create a dynamic and engaging online learning experience
