Part-Time Accounting Adjunct — Online & In‑Person Teaching

Job Overview

Position:
Accounting Adjunct Faculty (Part‑Time) in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades at Virginia Western Community College. This is a course‑by‑course, semester‑based teaching position requiring both in‑person and online instruction of college‑level accounting courses.

• Teach Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Payroll and Computerized Accounting, and Taxation courses in‑person and online.
• Develop and maintain syllabi, exams, learning materials, and assessments.
• Stay current in accounting practice and community‑college education trends.
• Participate in departmental communication and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including support during emergency declarations.

• Master’s degree in accounting or 18 graduate semester hours in accounting.
• At least two years of recent professional accounting experience (financial or managerial accounting, payroll, taxation, Quickbooks).
• Microsoft Excel 2010 or later certification and Intuit Quickbooks certification preferred.
• Experience teaching online and in a community‑college setting.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to develop learning strategies.

Telework options are not available at this time.

Payment is on a per‑credit‑hour basis; rates vary based on qualifications.
