Job Overview

Uplift Michigan Online School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Montessori Elementary Teacher to lead our innovative K‑2 program. As Michigan’s first online public Montessori school, we bring authentic Montessori learning into the home through a tuition‑free, nationally accredited model. You will be responsible for guiding students through hands‑on exploration and self‑directed learning in a virtual “prepared environment”.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Leadership:
Lead high‑quality Montessori instruction for a multi‑age (K‑2) virtual classroom.
  • Student Guidance:
Present lessons, observe individual student progress, and guide next steps based on student readiness rather than a fixed schedule.
  • Virtual Classroom Management:
Structure a virtual environment that supports independence and focused exploration during daily work cycles.
  • Live Engagement:
Facilitate regular teacher connections, live lessons with peers, and interactive group activities.
  • Parent Partnership:
Act as a primary resource for parents (Learning Coaches), guiding them on how to support routines and observational processes at home without requiring them to lead instruction.
  • Progress Monitoring:
Monitor and track student mastery through regular check‑ins and the use of digital tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Required Qualifications
  • Certification:
Ideal candidate holds a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and a Montessori Certification (elementary level).
  • Technical Proficiency:
Comfort using digital tools, Learning Management Systems, and web‑conferencing software to deliver instruction.
  • Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills to maintain daily contact with families and respond to communications within 24 business hours.
  • Mindset: A deep commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and the Montessori philosophy of “learning by doing”.
Program Highlights
  • Tuition‑Free & Public:
We remove the financial barriers to high‑quality Montessori education.
  • Hands‑On Learning:
Students receive physical Montessori materials at home, ensuring learning remains tangible and engaging despite the online format.
  • Accredited & Supported:
Join a nationally accredited program with a dedicated support team, including advisors and technology specialists.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available.
  • Voluntary Life Insurance
  • Short Term Disability
  • 401(k) and Roth
  • PTO
  • And more!
