Position SpecificsCybersecurity Teaching Faculty Positions
The Department of Privacy and Cybersecurity Informatics (PCI) in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for multiple open‑rank teaching faculty positions in cybersecurity, beginning in July 2026 at the University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. These are non‑tenure‑line term appointments with an excellent possibility of renewal as multi‑year appointments. Fully remote appointments are not permitted for these hires.

- Systems aspects of cybersecurity
- Cyber operations
- Risk analysis
- Organizational and human factors in security and privacy
- Cybercrime, cyberfraud, and digital forensics
- Emerging topics such as cryptography, and the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), security, and privacy
Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level and a desire to collaborate with the PCI department faculty and the IST faculty on curricular innovation and development efforts. A commitment to teaching learners at all levels and from all backgrounds is essential.
- Teach undergraduate courses in residential, online, and/or hybrid modes.
- Teach graduate courses (qualified faculty).
- Perform university service such as committee work and scholarship.
University service is expected of teaching faculty.
QualificationsApplicants must hold a master’s degree or doctoral degree (Ph.D. or other terminal degree) in information science, cybersecurity, computer science, or a related discipline by the appointment start date with Penn State. Candidates will be considered for a teaching faculty rank commensurate with their education and experience in accordance with Penn State policy AC21. Teaching ranks in IST are Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, and full‑rank Teaching Professor.
