Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty to teach SPAC
400 – Introduction to Space Navigation.
The course introduces students to the fundamentals of space navigation at an introductory physics level, covering Newton’s law of gravitation, central force motion, Kepler’s laws of planetary motion, the physical characteristics of the solar system and Earth/Moon system, and basic methods for navigating in near‑Earth orbit, the Moon, and other planetary orbits.
Qualifications- Doctor’s or Master’s degree in a teaching discipline, or a Master’s degree with a concentration in a teaching discipline (minimum 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
- Minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the relevant teaching discipline.
- Experience at a military or civilian organization operating space systems (including unmanned or manned space systems).
- Active membership in professional engineering organizations such as the National Academy of Engineering, National Society of Professional Engineers, or similar bodies related to unmanned/manned aerial systems, robotics, or related technology.
- Active membership in professional astronomical or astrophysical societies (e.g., American Astronomical Society, Royal Astronomical Society).
- Relevant qualifications for satellite operations, command and control of satellite systems, orbital mechanics, or related professional certifications.
Eligible applicants must be physically located within the United States while working for ERAU, including during training. New adjuncts from all U.S. states except California are supported. International candidates are not supported except for those residing and working from U.S. military bases.
Evidence of QualificationsSelected candidates must provide proof of qualifications, including official transcripts, copies of professional licenses or certifications, documentation of military or professional experience, or other verified industry experience.
