Virginia Western Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System. The School of Career and Corporate Training department of the college is currently accepting applications for part‑time day and/or evening Certified EKG Tech Instructor positions in the School of Career and Corporate Training.
Responsibilities- Teach students in classroom and lab settings to prepare them for the National Health career Association (NHA) Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam.
- Deliver established course curriculum, set up & maintain lab equipment, and ensure lab safety.
- Monitor student performance, assess content mastery and skill proficiency, and maintain attendance and grades per institutional policies.
- Troubleshoot classroom technical issues and track equipment usage and inventory.
- Assist with content development, curriculum review, and creation of learning strategies for adult learners.
- At least one year of experience as an EKG Technician, holding current EKG certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, cardiology, and EKG technology.
- Experience working with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to write syllabi, exams, and develop assessments.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to provide instruction in accelerated formats geared toward certification exam preparation.
- Track record of high student credential and institutional outcomes in classroom and lab environments.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field and five years of patient‑care work experience.
- Experience teaching adult learners and familiarity with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System is helpful.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled. Classes are held on Virginia Western’s main campus in Roanoke, with possible remote work as needed. Primary scheduling is weekdays evenings and/or weekends. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on an as‑needed, course‑by‑course basis.
