Job Summary
As an adjunct faculty member, you will instruct classes, grade assignments, assign final grades, and maintain office hours for student meetings. You will ensure a safe classroom environment, participate in faculty meetings, and handle additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Instruct assigned classes.
- Grade all quizzes, tests, and written assignments.
- Assign final grades and deliver grade justification sheets.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
- Maintain a safe and effective classroom environment.
- Participate in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Required Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the specific teaching discipline, or a master’s degree with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in the specific discipline.
- Knowledge and experience in the field of photonics is required.
- Ability to teach photonics in an online format is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensible way.
- Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds and willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process.
- Computer literacy and experience using computers in the classroom with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to the teaching of the specific discipline.
- Preferred: A Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in the teaching discipline.
- Preferred:
Two to five years teaching experience in a post‑secondary institution. - All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements.
This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty‑five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as a copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
The college expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed.
Credit rate $690.00 – $775.00. Open until filled. Commensurate with degree/experience level.
