- The base 9-month salary for Associate Professor is $115,000+, and for Full Professor is $126,000+, with administrative stipend and summer salary bringing the starting annual salary to $140,000–$155,000+, commensurate with rank and experience, Exempt

The Chair will focus on student program growth, curriculum innovation, and faculty development, ensuring that students gain the skills, creativity, and problem-solving experience needed to succeed in biomedical engineering and related fields. The Chair will also foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that supports interdisciplinary partnerships, experiential learning opportunities, and applied research initiatives integrated with student learning. The applicant will have a separate tenured faculty appointment within the Biomedical Engineering department.
The 12-month administrative appointment as Chair of Biomedical Engineering provides academic and administrative leadership to advance the department’s mission of delivering exceptional education through innovation-based learning. The position is at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with an offer of tenure based on a candidate's documented record, subject to approval from the department, the University, and the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education.
An appointment will be made at a rank and salary consistent with experience and qualifications.

- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for undergraduate and graduate programs in Biomedical Engineering, emphasizing innovation-based learning.
- Foster a student-centered environment that emphasizes hands-on learning, inclusion, and experiential education, including capstone design projects, laboratory courses, and project-based learning experiences.
- Mentor faculty in teaching effectiveness, curriculum design, and professional development to support innovation-driven instruction and active learning pedagogies.
- Strengthen interdisciplinary and industry partnerships to expand real-world learning opportunities, internships, and applied projects for students.
- Manage departmental operations, including budgeting, resource allocation, and personnel supervision.
- Support faculty and student engagement in scholarly and applied research, including projects that integrate learning with real-world problem-solving.
