Overview

Option for Youth (OFY) is a network of free, non‑profit public charter schools serving grades 7‑12, providing a flexible, personalized learning approach for students who have fallen behind or seek an alternative to traditional education.

Location & Remote Arrangements

Position is based in Sacramento, CA with remote work possible. Candidates must reside within 150 miles of a Sacramento OFY site. Some in‑person events may occur in Southern California.

Salary

$3,115.39 – $4,423.08 bi‑weekly, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction to students with special needs and identified learning disabilities in a special education program.
  • Tutor individuals and small groups, reinforcing language and reading concepts.
  • Administer and score individual and group tests.
  • Schedule and conduct IEP meetings, coordinating with parents, general education teachers, administrators, and special education staff.
  • Communicate and coordinate special needs evaluation and testing with speech teachers, psychologists, and other service providers.
  • Record and maintain progress records and progress toward IEP goals.
  • Support other academic programs within the independent study program.
  • Perform other duties in support of the Special Education Specialist program.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
  • California Preliminary or Clear Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate) with English Language Authorization (ELA).
  • Experience working with students having special needs and learning disabilities.
