Associate Professor of Practice and Associate Director of the BSW Program

Start date:
July 1, 2026. This is a 12‑month, full‑time contract appointment at the rank of Associate Professor of Practice. The role provides leadership and management for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, including curriculum, administration, and service‑learning components.
The Associate Director reports to the BSW Program Director and works closely with faculty, students, and practice partners to ensure a high‑quality, CSWE‑accredited undergraduate social work education. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, student advisement, program assessment, and service‑learning oversight.
Primary Responsibilities- Teach a 7‑course load per academic year in the BSW program.
- Collaborate with the BSW Director on curriculum development, renewal, and administration, and anticipate emerging practice areas.
- Assist in implementing and adhering to CSWE accreditation standards.
- Participate in program assessment, collect and analyze data, and write final reports.
- Lead faculty searches, interview candidates, and make hiring recommendations to the Director and Dean.
- Support teaching excellence among BSW faculty and adjuncts through mentorship and faculty development activities.
- Evaluate adjunct faculty performance.
- Engage in on‑campus student recruitment, admission activities, orientation, and individual meetings as needed.
- Manage the 3+1 accelerated program (application, admission, acceptance), reviewing admissions applications as needed.
- Oversee all BSW student advising in collaboration with the Practicum Operations Manager & Advisor.
- Serve as the primary lead for addressing on‑ground student concerns and lead communications with on‑ground BSW students.
- Organize student engagement opportunities and build a sustaining on‑ground community culture, including implicit curriculum.
- Maintain and update program materials such as the Handbook, webpage, and course catalog.
- Participate in SSW committees and fulfill leadership roles as required.
- Collaborate across the School of Social Work and the University as needed.
- Attend BSW core team meetings and related operations meetings.
- Participate in course development, community service, and other faculty responsibilities per the Faculty Policy Manual.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited program (required).
- Doctorate in Social Work preferred; BSW degree is a plus.
- Two years of post‑MSW clinical practice experience.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience in social work education.
- Experience with online education platforms and adult learners preferred.
- Strong rapport‑building skills with students; excellent time‑management, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and presentation software.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; discretion in handling confidential information.
Salary Range: $76,500 – $93,500. Benefits eligible. Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, equity, and external market benchmarks. The position includes health benefits, retirement savings options, flexible hours, and remote work opportunities.
