The UAA Faculty Success unit is seeking a full‑time Instructional Designer to support faculty with course design, the learning management system (Blackboard Ultra), and related instructional technologies. This role involves working with individual instructors to design and deliver courses, leading asynchronous and synchronous trainings, supporting LMS‑integrated platforms such as Digication, Voice Thread and Zoom, and troubleshooting technology issues. The position includes meetings, video walkthroughs, drafting guides, researching tools, and brainstorming new projects.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with instructors to design courses in Blackboard Ultra.
- Lead asynchronous and synchronous training sessions on course design topics.
- Support LMS‑integrated platforms including Digication, Voice Thread and Zoom.
- Troubleshoot technology issues for faculty.
- Create video walkthroughs and faculty guides.
- Research and test new tools in response to instructor feedback.
- Provide feedback on faculty interaction plans and assessment strategies.
- Brainstorm strategies for new initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience developing online and/or instructor‑led learning products.
- Experience assisting faculty with technology in traditional, web‑enhanced, hybrid, and online environments.
- Strong communication and project‑management skills.
- Deep understanding of educational best practices and accessibility standards.
- Full‑time, term‑funded position located on the Anchorage campus.
- Standard business hours; 40% remote work may be possible after 6 months.
