General DescriptionWork-Based Learning Teacher .4 FTE - Falcons Online Academy will teach work-based learning courses and oversee students at site visits.
Essential Functions- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials with effective teaching strategies aligning with the district philosophy and vision.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences in a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies; maximize time on task.
- Create an online classroom environment that responds to the needs of individual learners.
- Plan and implement a program of study designed to meet individual students’ needs.
- Recognize learning problems and make referrals as appropriate.
- Encourage student enthusiasm for the learning process and development of good study habits.
- Adhere to health and safety policies including the precautions of safety and health plans.
- Communicate with parents in a timely manner; maintain positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community.
- Develop reasonable rules of online school behavior and appropriate techniques.
- Share responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school.
- Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, taking necessary and reasonable precautions.
- Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
- Work cooperatively with parents and other staff members to reinforce the educational program for each child.
- Attend workshops, seminars and conferences as well as staff, department, curricular development and committee meetings and staff-development sessions as required.
- Encourage and facilitate work of other staff members in a collaborative, supportive environment.
- Evaluate accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods; provide progress and interim reports for feedback.
- Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics and state and federal laws.
- Keep current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and be willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school’s curriculum.
- Work cooperatively with special education and EL staff to report student progress and growth, as applicable.
- Work with the Student Success Coordinator, district literacy coach(s) and curriculum to develop a strong program and class.
- Work cooperatively with the student and their employer during site visits to reinforce the educational program for each child.
- Build strong, positive relationships with families and students.
Work Based Learning Licensure
Faribault Public Schools is a rural Pre-K through Adult School District located about 50 miles south of the Twin-Cities. The school district currently serves approximately 3,700 students in Faribault and our surrounding areas within our community of 23,000 citizens within the city limits. District sites include one Pre-K and Kindergarten, two elementary schools 1-5, one middle school 6-8, one high school 9-12, one area learning center 9-12 and one education center for adult education.
