Qualifications- State Certificate to teach in Early Childhood.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; document teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, and ability to differentiate instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction and learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual students’ needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small‑group instruction as needed.
- Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school system.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourage parental involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school’s standards and district policies, and establish and maintain student behavior standards necessary for a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students in activities that take place outside the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
- Provide continuity of services; remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation requiring the closing of school or office buildings. Employee eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor based on role and responsibilities.
