The Sixpence Home Visitor develops and maintains relationships with the families enrolled in Educare's home-based services. The Sixpence Home Visitor also plans and facilitates group activities for the families, and they conduct home visits for each of the children assigned to them, providing regular documentation for each visit.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS:
- Develop and maintain supportive, productive relationships with families enrolled in the home visitation program.
- Recruit and enroll families for the home visitation program to reach and maintain full enrollment.
- Plan and conduct regular home visits to families (three times monthly for each child) using a Sixpence approved home visiting curriculum.
- Develop and schedule the program's group activities (minimum of one per month) for all enrolled families, in collaboration with the Sixpence partner.
- Conduct child screenings on an established schedule and make referrals to needed community services.
- Work in collaboration with Sixpence staff, program partners, and other community agencies to implement the home-based services.
- Promote parents' overall involvement and participation in the home visitation program, with a focus on building effective parenting skills through strengths-focused coaching and supports.
- Document the services provided and maintain records.
- Participate in training and technical assistance activities including Sixpence sponsored group training, site visits, monthly conference calls, and web-based activities.
- Develop relationships with other community-based service providers.
- Identify services needed by families and refer them to the appropriate resources available in the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields required:
- Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Special Education
- Child Development
- Human Services/Social Work (with 12 credit hours in family-centered practices or child/youth development)
- Nursing (with 12 credit hours in family-centered practices or child/youth development)
- Psychology/Sociology (with 12 credit hours in family-centered practices or child/youth development)
- Two or more years of home visiting or related experience preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.
- Mission-driven with a commitment to making high-quality early care and education available to all children.
- Knowledge of curriculum, principles, and best practices of early childhood education.
- Ability and willingness to remain abreast of developments in the child development/early childhood education field to enhance professional growth and development.
- Commitment to continuously review, analyze, and apply findings from local and national evaluations to current program design.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a manner that demonstrates and fosters cooperation, respect, concern, and openness to change.
- Ability to establish supportive relationships and form an alliance with staff and families from diverse backgrounds on behalf of children.
- Ability to take or think about the perspective of others and demonstrate self-awareness of one's own culture, beliefs, and values.
- Knowledge of community resources and ability to develop community cooperation.
- Ability and willingness to make home visits and travel to community agencies, serving as an ambassador to the organization.
