Associate Faculty Pool, Social and Human Services, Addiction Studies Focus (PT Faculty)

SALARY: A five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94

LOCATION:

Lynnwood Washington

DESCRIPTION:

The Social and Human Services Department accepts applications for part-time teaching on an ongoing basis. The department offers a variety of degrees and certificates that are listed on the department web site onds.edu/programs/shs. This posting is specifically for an applicant who is a current certified Substance Use Disorder Professional to teach classes such as addictions case management, assessment and treatment of addiction disorders, group counseling and additions .

Most quarters are 11 weeks long; each week consists of approximately five hours of class time. Daytime, evening, and online instructors may be needed. Training for teaching online or using Canvas (the college's learning management system) is available for all employees. We accept applications for part-time faculty positions on an ongoing basis. Typical requirements for part-time faculty are listed below. To be included in the part-time pool, please follow the application procedure below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Master's degree in social work, human services, counseling, mental health, alcohol and chemical dependency counseling or a closely related field or equivalent experience.

* Current Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) in the State of Washington.

* One year of recent work experience in an addictions treatment environment as a fully credentialed SUDP.

* Excellent speaking, writing, listening, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

* Good technology skills and familiarity with the Internet and communicating online.

DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) credential.

* Supervisory experience in addictions treatment.

* Teaching experience at a community college or university.

* Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities, including adult learners.

* Experience working with Canvas or other online learning management systems.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom, office, or online from home and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to communicate effectively is essential. Instructors are required to use a computer in the work environment.

COMPENSATION:

The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step

A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

* You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

* Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant

* For education and degrees completed outside of the United States, an independent evaluation approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is needed before the hiring process will be completed.
