We are seeking to hire a new class of editors to provide world-class feedback on student work (common app essays, supplemental essays, letters of continued interest, etc.) from Aug-Feb for this upcoming college application season. Onboarding and training is expected to begin in April/May.
- Responsive Communication: Requires prompt, thoughtful engagement and responding to emails within 24 hours.
- Holiday Commitment: We do not officially observe holidays, as students are most active during breaks. Editors are asked to be available for some hours over Indigenous People's weekend, the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day.
- A sharp, compassionate, creative writer and teacher who loves helping others express complex ideas clearly.
- Comfortable juggling multiple deadlines and responding quickly in a digital + remote environment— responds to all emails within 24 hours.
- Able to create your own work schedule and committed to working non-traditional hours on weekends and holidays to help students achieve their college dreams.
- Student at or graduate from an accredited college or university with high academic standing.
- Experience with college essays, grad school, college or private school admissions, teaching/tutoring, or editorial work is a plus.
- Have a firsthand understanding of the competitive landscape of T20 admissions and the level of writing required to succeed within it is a plus.
Standard Editor Pay Rates by word count (return within 3 business days):
- 150 words: $32 – $40 per essay
- 350 words: $50 – $62 per essay
- 650 words: $77 – $95 per essay
Express Editor Pay Rates by word count (return within 18 hours):
- 150 words: $50 – $61 per essay
- 350 words: $78 – $95 per essay
- 650 words: $120 – $147 per essay
Urgent Editor Pay Rates (by word count, return within 8 hours):
- 150 words: $79 – $97 per essay
- 350 words: $123 – $151 per essay
- 650 words: $189 – $232 per essay
Workload: Minimum 5 hours commitment per week during regular season, 15 hours commitment per week during peak windows.
Peak Windows:
- Early Action: October 10 – November 1, 2026.
- Regular Decision: December 15, 2026 – January 5, 2027.
- Daily Demand: Peak rushes typically require 2-3 hours of work per day.
- Eligibility: Must be 18+ and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Location: Remote
