Job Overview
The Middle School English Teacher delivers online English instruction to K‑12 students, building relationships with families, students, and learning coaches to ensure all students progress successfully through the program. The role requires state certification, a bachelor’s degree, and residency in Oklahoma. Teachers work primarily from home, traveling occasionally throughout the year for school functions.
Responsibilities- Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
- Personalize learning for all students and differentiate instruction based on mastery level.
- Augment course content and use appropriate tools under guidance from the principal and coach.
- Maintain grade books, ensure academic integrity, make placement/promotion decisions, and alert administrators to performance concerns.
- Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, communicating responsively with students and learning coaches/parents.
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues and troubleshoot virtual classroom challenges.
- Travel as required (approximately once per month or 20% of the time) for professional development and testing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Active Oklahoma middle school English teaching license.
- Clear required background check.
- Ability to meet residency requirements in Oklahoma.
- Experience working with the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
- Experience teaching online or in a brick‑and‑mortar environment.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms.
- Ability to analyze student data and use it to drive instructional decisions.
- Receptive to coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
- Adaptability to change and new technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
The compensation package is determined by education, experience, qualifications, work location, and travel. Offers typically fall in the bottom half of the applicable salary range and include standard benefits available to employees of Stride, Inc.
