Job Description

Pecos Cyber Academy (PCA) is a fully virtual public school serving students across New Mexico. All staff and students work remotely; however, this position requires participation in in‑person student testing events and occasional travel for required trainings and professional development. The Elementary Teacher delivers high‑quality, standards‑aligned instruction in an online learning environment for students in grades K–5.

• Must reside in the State of New Mexico
• Remote position (home office required)
• Valid New Mexico Public Education Department K–8 Teaching License

• Design and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned instruction using Canvas and live virtual lessons
• Teach core content areas (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies)
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learners
• Implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
• Use student data to differentiate instruction and support academic growth

• Maintain consistent, clear, and professional communication with students and families
• Provide timely, meaningful feedback to support learning
• Build strong relationships that promote student engagement and success

• Establish and maintain a structured, positive online learning environment
• Promote student accountability, participation, and appropriate digital behavior
• Foster a safe and inclusive virtual classroom community

• Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff
• Participate in required meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
• Follow all PCA policies, procedures, and NM PED requirements

• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date student records
• Monitor and report student progress in a timely manner
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain organized Canvas courses
• Support students during required learning events, including state testing and interventions
• Participate in in‑person testing events and travel to required trainings
• Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement
• Serve as a positive role model for students
• Accept additional duties as assigned by administration

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid NM K–8 Teaching License
• Strong technology skills for virtual instruction and communication
• Experience in virtual or blended learning environments preferred

• Fully remote with a home office
• Requires self‑motivation and independent work
• Regular virtual interaction with students, families, and staff
• Flexibility required; occasional work outside standard hours may be necessary

• Salary and work calendar established annually by PCA Human Resources
